Review Defaults

My word opens up in "Final Showing Markup", is it
possible to change the defualt to "Final" on the review
toolbar.

Yes. Find and open your Normal.dot template. The default location for
this file is C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Application
Data\Microsoft\Templates (this may be a hidden folder). Change the
Display for Review setting to "Final" or whatever you want it to be.
Type a couple of characters (doesn't matter what) and then delete what
you just typed. Save the Normal.dot template, and close Word. Start
Word again, and your default Display for Review setting should be what
you just selected in your Normal.dot template.

This is a Security option in recent versions of Word. If you have tracked
changes or comments ("markup") in your document, Word shows them to you to
prevent embarrassment if you send the file. The setting ("Make hidden markup
visible when opening or saving") is on the Security tab of Tools | Options.
