runaway repagination

I am working on a 150 page doc with lots of screen shots
(png format)long document. The pictures are numberd using
an Insert...Field...AutoNum command.
When my document repaginates, it the page numbering goes
crazy. It repaginates up to page 8000 and beyond. The huge
numbers show up in the TOC when I update it. For example,
the TOC jumps from page 58 to page 7871.
I can't see any odd field entries (Ctrl-F9) or other
anomalies in the doc.
Any ideas how I can resolve this?

G'day "cb" <[email protected]>,

This problem can be caused by lots of things. Some of the things I
have found that affect this most are:

XP+: H&F contain tables
All: Draw objects in header
All: Outrageously long tables
All: Mild document corruption - use any cleaning routine to help.
