Sample Data - WSS Error - HELP!

I need help. I have not setup the Sample Data in an environment for a
long-time and I'm running into a problem I have a laptop that has been
configured for the clients to use to prepare for training. The orig site
[ProjectServer] was setup and everything works fine...including the WSS
integration.

Now I need to load the Sample data into one or more sites...one for demo
purposes and one for training. I'm currently trying to get the first site
with sample data working. However, I continue to get one the following error
when trying to access Documents, Issues, or Risks:

'The documents, risks and issues features in Project Web Access use Windows
Sharepoint Services.

This is a problem establishing a connection with the Web server running
Windows Sharepoint Services. Contract your system administrator'

Points of Interest
1 - These errors do not happen on the default installation site.
2 - There is not a connection error displayed on the home page of the sample
site under risks or issues.
3 - The list of projects shows up from the database but I cannot connect to
WSS.
4 - I can access the WSS Sharepoint Admin site successfully.
5 - I have created an account for Sharepoint purposes [svcs_admin_wss] and
it has been added to SQL Server with the Security Admin and DB Creator roles.
6 - The PSCOMPlus program has been run and the identify for the COM+
objects has been update to run under domain\svcs_admin_wss account.
7 - I can get to the Public Documents shared document library...just not any
projects.
8 - EditSite has been run and all connections have been tested successfully.

Is this a flaw in the Sample Data load program?
How do I get around this problem?
Any help would be appreciated!
** This does not happen on the default site using Port 80.
