Saving MSP07 to MSP03

Penny

I am over and over again having trouble saving a file in 07 to 03. Even
sometimes I can't save it to 07 and not lose data. It is either dropping
data out of the schedule or just plane making the file absolutely corrupt. I
am having to save to different locations to SOMETIMES get it to work. I am
spending more time with corrupt files than I am working.

Any suggestions?

First - make sure your version of 2007 is updated to the latest service
pack. There have been a large number of bug fixes since 2007 was released
and there is no good reason not to be using Service Pack 2.

If you do that and are still having problems, I'd consider limiting the
number of conversions you are doing. If you can arrange for people to have
the same version of project then you will eliminate the need for converting.
If it is just for sharing with others who do not need to edit, consider
printing to a PDF file or something like that.

If you need to work extensively with people who are using 2003 then perhaps
you should install 2003 and use it as well. On the desktop there is not a
very big difference between the two versions.

I've had the same problem with this, and saying "don't do it" isn't in any
way helpful - we don't do it for fun, after all, only do it because we need
to!

What I and others really need is a fix, either a way to stop this
happenning, or a way to fix it once it has.

I thought I offered a couple of suggestions - get on same version, use PDF
file, Update to latest version.
You are correct that those are all avoidance approaches, but I don't work
for Microsoft and can't fix their problems.
