Saving pictures in Outlook Express

For some reason, when I receive jpgs or other graphic attachments, the only
"save as" option I'm given is to save as a .bmp. I'd rather save the files
in their original format. I'm using Office 2003 Outlook Express. I've
tried to find / change file formatting rules in the account options, etc but
no such luck. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

Outlook Express is part of Internet Explorer not Office. Try deleting you
Temporary Internet Files using Internet Options.

Thank you Don for taking the time to respond. Since Outlook Express is
listed as a product under OFFICE on the MS site, that is where I searched.
If you hadn't suggested making changes on IE I might not have made that
connection. I've deleted the temp internet files as you suggested on IE.
However, I am still getting only the .bmp option when I right click on an
embedded image to save it. I used to get the option of saving as a .jpg -
don't get why this is happening. Any other suggestions will be welcome.

Actually, Outlook is an Office application and Outlook Express isn't. Close,
but no cookies. :)

First verify that the file you are trying to download is not in fact a *.bmp
file.
I recall another step if clearing the Temporary Internet Files does not fix
the problem. However, do not recall the details. Suggest your post to an
Outlook Express Newsgroup. If you are using Outlook Express 6, try:

news://msnews.microsoft.com/microsoft.public.windows.inetexplorer.ie6_outlookexpress

Or better yet, setup a news account for: news://msnews.microsoft.com in
your Outlook Express so you can go the Microsoft Peer newsgroups directly.
Note: Do not use a valid email address.
