Saving reports

Jonas Nielsen

Hi there,

I use: "View", "Reports", "Cost", "Budget" to get a report on my project
budget. But how do I save it to a file?!

Also, I think it is sort of lame that I have to manually expand all tasks to
show subtasks, otherwise the report won't show all tasks and expenses. Is
there a way around this?

It will only let me print it.

Kind Regards, Jonas

Jonas,
Unfortunately, you can't. Reports are saved with the file, but they
cannot be saved separately.

With regard to expanding the tasks. Check that you have the option
checked to show assignments on the particular report you are using.

Hope this helps.

Jonas,
Have you tried to export to html the information you need via filters and
maps? If you can extract the data from project to html you can easily
transfer to excel in a format that is useful.

Hi Jonas,

Welcome to the Microsoft Project newsgroup :)

Please see FAQ Item: 44. Printing Problems. FAQs, companion products and
other useful Project information can be seen at this web address:
http://project.mvps.org/faqs.htm.

As for expanding the summaries, Project's flexibility allows you to do show
what you want, but you have to select it as Project can't read minds. If
you have a preferred set up that you use often, then record a macro doing
this and put it on a tool button - see #16 on macros in my series on
Microsoft Project in the TechTrax ezine, at this site:
http://tinyurl.com/2xbhc or this:
http://pubs.logicalexpressions.com/Pub0009/LPMFrame.asp?CMD=ArticleSearch&AUTH=23
(Perhaps you'd care to rate the article before leaving the site, :)
Thanks.)

Hope this helps - please let us know how you get on:)

John, thank you for your answer - Then i'll stop looking for it ;-)

It would be very handy though, odd that MS didn't include this feature. I
guess one could print to the MS Image Writer.
