Is it possible to save a slide show to DVD and play on a DVD player on my tv?

Yes, you can. You can record/capture the slideshow using products such as
CamTasia (30 Days Trial), into video format. Then burn it into your DVD using
Nero. Follow John's links to tutorial on an indepth tutorial on how you can
go about doing it.
