Saving Word 07 as Word 03 without loss of formating

F

Frustrated!

I regularly have to save Word 07 files into Word 03. When opened with Word
03, the alignment of tab markers is all over the place. Is there a solution
for this problem?

This sounds like it could be a formatting problem. If your tabbed table in
W2007 sometimes has multiple tabs between the columns--which one must do to
align columns when the default tabs (every 1/2" in the US) are used. If the
computer with W2003 doesn't have the same font used in W2007, the columns
will not align. A simple solution is to make sure you use a font that is
available in W2003. Times New Roman and Arial come to mind. (Calibri and
Cambria are new to W2007 but are included in the compatibility pack which
allows W2003 to read and edit W2007 files.) A better solution is to use
just one tab between lines, which will allow more variation in the lengths of
the words in the columns. The best solution is to convert the tabbed table
to a software (Word) table.

If this is not your problem, please explain it more completely.

Use styles that include the required tab settings. The styles will travel
with the document.
