How can I scan an acrobat -for school application- then edit it so I can fill
in the info required--using a typewriter is archaic

Archaic it may be, but a lot less work it certainly is. Just because a
technology is older, it does not make it any less useful. For a one-off this
is not worth doing.

The procedure is to scan the form, insert it as a background image (which
because of the printer driver will mean an image slightly smaller than the
original) then build the editable document over the image with tables to
place the fields. You can then remove the background image and print on the
form, having first tested on thin plain paper which you can hold over the
form to check on position.

Stick to the typewriter while you still have it.
