Search Engine advise after replacing old site with new one

Is there anything I need to do in terms of the search engines if I have
replaced an old site with a new one? I completely took down the old site,
and put up a totally different one. The last time the old site was crawled
was on 12/10 so the little blurb under the web address in the search engines
isnt valid anymore, but I expect that will change the next time we are
crawled. The one thing I did notice is, prior to taking the site down, a lot
of our pages would come up in a search. Now I have to search for our
specific name before anything comes up, and even then it is only the index
page. Can anyone help with this?

If you really want to recover those rankings, you can use something like
ISAPIRewrite (Google it) on a Windows server, or the .htaccess file on a
*nix server to redirect the old pagenames to the new pagenames. This is
more than just a snap of the fingers, though....
