Searchable database in French

I have a searchable database (derived from Excel
spreadsheets) complied with FP2002(English version) and
it works fine. When translated into French (e.g., titles
in the tables), it will not search (working with FP2002
and 2003, all English versions). Is it because a French
version of the FP must be used to create the searchable
database? Thanks.
