'searching' a specific directory for text.

recently upgraded to Word2003 from Word97...and the
program is great except for two things.

1) just like Word 97 if i hit delete in a text file it
will sometimes 'auto-format' my script from Arial 12 to
Times New Roman 12 by itself.

2) in Word 97 there used to be a 'search' function that
would let me look for specific text in just the folder
that I was currently in. So...if I was
in /bobsfolders/docs/b i could search just the "b"
folder. now, it forces me to search "bobsfolders" and
takes about half an hour to find my results (compared to
Word 97 taking 30 seconds to search the one folder). Is
there an option I can turn on to give me that
functionality back?

Grant, about number 2:

File > Open > (in the Open dialog box) Tools > Search > Advanced. Under
"Other Search Options: Search in..." deselect "Everywhere," then drill down
to the folders you want to search and check them off.

But searching through Windows Explorer is much more efficient (you can
search for text strings in the documents as well as for some document
properties, though not keywords).
