Searching on a string in Outlook

Eric Barnett

We are trying to use more features in Outlook, specifically a search on the
string ‘1234zz’ from the Inbox of ‘ Mailbox - TAG MRO OPC’ folder and a
second attempt from ‘Veronica’ folder that is within the ‘Mailbox - TAG MRO
OPC’ folder, with no success. The only search that was successful for the
string was from within the ‘Done’ folder. I have toggled between the ‘All
Folders’ & ‘Only the current selected folder’ with no success.

In summary, the only way I could find the string ‘1234zz’ from subject
heading in email in folder ‘Done’ was to highlight the ‘Done’ folder and
search using options ‘Only the current selected folder’ . Can you help?

For which version of Outlook? Is that the beginning of a string or the
middle?

Outlook 2007.

As for the string, they are looking for key strings within the email body or
subject line and throughout multiple folders underneath the inbox folder.

Yes, but are you trying to find '1234zz' or also 'bfshsjs1234zz' or
'1234zzytunfnafna'?

More specifically, we want to be able to search throughout all the email for
specific words or phrases. They might be in email in the root of the 'inbox'
or any folder below it.

Use an Advanced find and on the Advanced tab create a query with the
"contains" condition.
