Searching sub folders in a Public folder

A

AnytimeAnywhere

I have a user that wants to search through sub folders in a Public folder,
but the option to search the sub folders is ghosted out. Can this check box
be unghosted out? This check box is located under: Advanced Find, Browse.

Thanks,

John

Though modern exchange servers seem to support recursive search folders, the
option is disabled in exchange public folders and can not be enabled. There
is no way for turning this on. Maybe it is disabled to prevent a few
thousand users in a big Exchange installation to search through all folders
at the same time.

There are some applications which help finding things in public folders, for
example Lookout for Outlook or any desktop search engine, all of them will
create a local data base for searches.

Our Add-In QSearchFolders has a function included which allows recurssivly
searching in public folders using a query language. In a small workgroup it
might be util, in a large environment it may be fatal if used by too many
users at the same time.

The best solution would modifiying any desktop search to allow other
computers to access the web server, for example that somebody can enter
http://myserver:4664 and access the google desktop search.
