Second Instance of MS Project

James Coulter

Hi,

Quick question - is it possible to run a second instance of Project
Professional 2003 on a computer? I've tried it and it doesn't let me.

If the answer is "No", why is this?

Hi James,

No, I don't believe so. As far as the "why?" I don't know. I guess my
question is why do you want to?

Hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.

I'm trying to figure out a way of programmatically switching between Project
Server accounts. Since there is no Connect/Disconnect method exposed in the
VBA object model, I then wondered if it might be possible to create a second
instance of MS Project via COM automation...

Hi James,

Ah, now your the reason behind your question becomes clearer....and I am
afraid you have delved into a realm (Project Server and COM automation) that
I am not well versed in.

If you haven't already, you may try posting your specific need (switching
between Server Accounts) to the Project Developer NG or the Project Server NG
to see if one of the folks there can help.
