Dave;

The easiest way to have music play across several slides
is to put the sound on the first slide and have it play
across several slides. To do that:

Insert the sound file.

Right-click the sound file icon and select Custom
Animation. That opens the task pane with the Custom
Animation info showing.

Click the sound once in the task pane - a drop-down arrow
appears.
Click the drop-down arrow and select Timing.

On the Timing tab, set the 'Start' to After Previous with
a delay of 1 second (I do this in case there are other
effects running such as a photo being displayed).

Click the 'Effect' tab.

In the 'Stop Playing' area, select "After XX slides" and
use the spinner controls to set the total slide number in
the presentation.

Click OK - PowerPoint will now play the music across all
theslides in your presentation.

Test it to make sure it works properly.

This also works best if you have the sound file in the
same directory as the presentation; if you transfer the
slide show to another computer, use Pack and Go.
