Selective Control of Users Editing PPTs...

We've been batting around different solutions for a client, but I thought
I'd throw this out to see if anyone has any ideas...

The client has numerous PPTs (modules) that they only want certain employees
to be able to edit. But, they want every employee to have access to pull
from the collection to create their own presentations.

Password protection seems a little annoying because of the popup
dialogues...
Write/Read access to a specific server only works while the files are on
that server...

Any ideas?

Sounds like they need a Sharepoint Server with MOSS (Microsoft Office
Sharepoint Services) so they can use the slide library features.
