self-taught needs info on linking to web-based sources

Kimberly

Hello,
I'm looking for in-depth information (if possible) on how to link my
Access database tables to their original sources on the internet. The
company at which I am contracted has several sources on the web that I
must link to in order to populate the tables and run the queries.

Please HELP - remember, I am mostly self-taught but am very skilled at
Access. I think my level of expertise may be rated high-intermediate.
I have very small background in VBA as well. However, with this said,
I THRIVE on databases and am currently attempting to understand/learn
SQL as well. My favorite hobby is learning more and more Access - SQL
- VBA, etc.

Thank you,
Kimberly

how do you thrive on databases; but you're just beginning to learn SQL?

your skills as an Access Newbie are worthless. Access MDB format is
obsolete; I would go out and buy a copy of Dreamweaver; because
Microsoft hasn't ever had a basic understanding of the web development
market..

Sorry; but linking from MDB to a SQL Server 'over the internet' is not
possible; because MDB is stupid enough to try to pull the whole table
down; lock the whole table before doing an update.

Hi Kimberly

Aaron is right, MS Access is for babies and is obsolete. He is also
correct in his comment about MS and web development tools. Use PHP for
the web development, try to avoid anything from Microsoft, you wil do
yourself a big favour. If you are stupid enough you can use Access for
your web site, it will break though.
