Send immediately

Outlook 2002 has suddenly stopped sending my mail immediately. I am on
broadband and it certainly should. Send immediately when connected is
checked. It sends and receives fine at the specified intervals (which I have
now had to set to 1 minute in order to get things going) and the connection
is set to go via my LAN.

Anyone any ideas where I should start looking to correct this?

in the bottom right hand corner, click "offline" then
uncheck "work offline"
