Send / Receive button error message

Please can somebody help?

Up until yesterday our send / receive button on Outlook
2002 was working perfectly. Now when we click on the
button to retrieve / send e-mails an error appears.

The error states "The Operation Failed".

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
