Send/Receive disabled in Outlook 2003 after Access script ends

I have successfully used Access to send e-mails through for quite some time now.

I just upgraded to Office System, and now whenever Access sends an e-mail, the Send/Receive button
in Outlook 2003 stops functioning. By that I mean, nothing happens when it is clicked.

It has gotten to the point where I have to shut down Outlook - and sometimes reboot - before the
button will function.

The >only< thing that is new for my Outlook setup is that I am now using two different accounts.
Could this be the problem? If so, how - using VBA - can I correct it?

I've searched MS support - but I'm either using the wrong key words - or this issue hasn't come up
yet.

Any help would be appreciated.
