Sending mail from Outlook

L

Lindsay

I am having real trouble setting up a profile in Outlook. All I want to do is send an email but it's proving impossible! I don't know what to put in the pop or smtp bits for the mail server. All the replies I've read on here have said I need to ask my ISP, but I don't know who my ISP is! All I know is that I have a LAN connection and all I do is switch the computer on and click on Internet Explorer and I'm on the internet. How do I find out who my ISP is
What do I do? Please keep all replies nice and simple so as not to confuse me!

Gee. I find this a bit flabbergasting and wonder if you are being just a
bit disingenous.

A number of ideas for you to figure this out:

1. are you at a home (yours?) or at an office. If office, ask the
computer support.

2 if at home, where does the LAN wire lead? Is there a box nearby that
has a name of a company? a Cable company? A phone company? Just a hole
in the wall? Are you in some sort of shared living accomodatoin or
appartment block that provides internet access to everyone?

3. do you know what your email address is? (don't post ithere). To the
right of the @ symbol is the domain. If you visit www.[domain] does
this ring any bells?

4. Check your credit card. To what service provider are you maybe
paying a monthly fee to?

You may not have an email address. You may just have internet access
(see 2 above). You may need to setup mail service.

Hope this is useful to you. Let us know.
