Sending Mail with Outlook

N

Neily

Hi,

I've just started using Outlook and primarily as my e-mail
client.

This may be a simple thing, but when write a new e-mail,
then click on the send button, the e-mail goes to the
outbox, but does not get sent. I need to click on the
Send/Receive button to get it to send.

Is there a way to make it send the mail as soon as I click
the send button?

Ta.

There's a 'send immediately' option here in OL2002 & OL2003: Tools menu >
Options > Mail Setup tab

For other version of Outlook:

OL97 with Original Internet mail transport:
Tools > Services > Highlight Internet Mail > Click Properties > Connection
tab
Set Connection type to "Connected to LAN", uncheck "Work Offline & Use
Remote Mail"

OL97 with Internet Mail Enhancement Patch transport:
Tools > Services > Highlight an Internet Mail service > Click Properties >
Connection tab
Set Connection type to "I use a LAN connection"

If your Internet connection properties (Control Panel > Internet applet >
Connection tab) are set to "Connect as needed" your machine will still
autodial (it'll only auto-disconnect if you set an inactivity timeout) when
necessary.

If you're using Outlook 98 in IMO (Internet Mail Only) mode try this:
Tools menu > Options > Mail Delivery tab > Check "Send Messages Immediately"
