Sent folders missing email

I am missing several months of sent email in my sent email folders (Outlook
2000). Does anyone have an idea where it went and if I can retrieve it?

Auto-Archived perhaps...It may not be so obvious if the Archive folder has
been closed. You may need to mount it.
