Server Error: Service.lck for write

On March 5, 2007 my Frontpage worked fine and could publish to my homepage.
However, as of March 9, only 4 days later when I try to publish I receive
this error message. The only Microsoft updates that have been done during
this time was the latest one for Authentication.
Have followed the instructions that I found on deleting the file by this
name that is in the folder _vti_pvt but it is not write protected and even
when deleted the same error happens.
Please advise as to what should have caused this problem and how I can
recify it!!
Thanks.
