Set table cell size so that I can put a border around a table

Hi there,
I'm trying to put a border around my table - which is a board game for kids
to play with (so that when you change fonts etc it will grow, whereas a shape
or text box wouldn't)

So for instance I want a 5x5 table, so I make the actual table 7 x 7, then
merge the outside rows and columns together so that this then forms my
outside border.

What I want to know is how can I set the cell size on this 'border' so that
the top/bottom and left/right cells are the same size ( I guess you are after
the height of the top/bottom cell to be the same size as the width of the
left/right cells). I've tried setting cell properties margins to 0 and the
font size to 4 to no avail.

I hope this makes sense!

Will you be making two separate tables? You could put your border table on the
master page.
If you need to have each cell to be exact, use grid guides. You could create one
cell tables, those you can do an exact size and group together.
There are different things you can do to accomplish what you are trying to do.

I was hoping to make one table.

By doing grid guides do you mean ruler guides that you enter in the exact
place by going to format ruler guides and then entering the values. Do you
then place your table 'over the top' of the grid guides and manually shift
the rows, colums so that they line up over the ruler guides. e.g. if you want
a table with cells that are 2cm by 2cm you set a number of ruler guides at 2,
4, 6 cm etc, and then make a table, blow up to 800%, and then shift the rows
and colums so that they line up with the ruler guides.

Thanks!

Yes, you are on the right track. You can use the grid guides in the Arrange,
Page layout. I am always referring to the ruler guides as grid guides. I am
wrong as always.
