I cannot set default language to Portuguese (Brazil) in Word.
I choose it in Language menu option and I also set it as Default...
However, when a restart Word, English language is set.
I can set Portuguese as default in Excel and Powerpoint, but it doesn't work in Word.

Thanks in advance.

PS.: I'm sorry, but I don't speak english very well..

In the Langiage pane, did you click on the button to make it the
default?? (I suspect you did, but it doesn't hurt to ask).

I suspect it might be related to a bug in Office where Word attempts to
map the keyboard layout to the language in your documents.

You can try editing your Normal template, select all, assign the
language of your choice (Portuguese) and save it. All new documets
created from this template should then have the same language selected
by default.

Also, you can use scripts to easily switch the language of a text
selection in Word. Look at this post:

Neither do-I :)
