Setting up a program to run automatically in PowerPoint 2003

nstultz

The problem that I am having is I need the slide show to run itself. The
only options that it gives when you are setting up a program is either to
click the link or mouse over. I need it to open and close the program on a
timed period of time. Any suggestion???

Look under help in widows on how to set up scheduled tasks.

I have to be able to do this inside of the presentation. Schedule task would
open powerpoint, but would not help me in that arena. Thank you for your
response though.

What do you mean you have to do it inside the presentation. all slideshows
can be made to run automatically once they are started.

What we are trying to do to have a powerpoint presentation run. Inside of
that presentation in close to the center, we want to run a program. Running
the program is not a problem. The only problem that I have is that when you
go to action settings in Powerpoint to run the program it only gives you on a
mouse click or mouse over. I need the program to load automatically.
Therefore, running the powerpoint will not help me if the program will not
open up like I need it to.

Sorry, I don't think you can do what you want. Although it may be possible
using VBA which I know very little about.

What program is it??

Could you insert it as an object on the appropriate slide and then run it
via custom animation?

It is called VLC Viewer, we are a company that broadcast video. In the slide
show we want to show live tv through this viewer, unfortantly you cannot do
what you mentioned below.

To do this:

Go to Insert > Object and select the "From File" option. Assuming the file
is associated with a specific application the right application will be
called to display the file.

Right click the icon (after it's on the slide of course) and select "Custom
Animation". This will open the animation task pane.

Click "Add Effect" (at the top of the task pane) and you will see an option
for "Object Actions".

Click this and you may now select "Activate Contents". Click it and the
"object" is now added to the list in the animations pane.

You may now set it to work on mouse click, after previous, with previous,
etc. as you would any other animation.
