Setting Word as default e-mail editor

I recently re-installed Outlook 2002. I also have Word
installed. How do I set Word as my default e-mail editor?
When I go to Tools, Options, Mail Format, the box to do
this can't be checked. Any suggestions? thanks

What version of Word? It has to be the same version as Outlook for this to
work...

What a BS attempt to force us to spend MORE money on
features we already had. I shouldn't LOOSE functionality
when I upgrade a program. I recently upgraded to a SBS,
which upgrade all the client's Outlook to 2002. NOWHERE
was I told doing so would disable features my users were
used to.

Again, that's just plain greed.

It's been that way for a very long time. The versions are written
differently. You didn't have to upgrade your clients from OL2000 to OL2002
just to use your SBS/Exchange, for what it's worth.

Also, my two cents, Word as e-mail editor is clunky, slow, and bloated - I
disable it by default every place I set up computers. That's just my
preference, however.
