Shape search won't work

Hi,

I am using Visio 2003 standard (dutch) and I am not able to find any of my
shapes through the search option. It does not find any of my shapes, even if
they are in a stencil right below this search field.
I have added the right path to my stencils in the Visio properties, but
without any result.
What could be the matter here ?

Thanks,

Arnold de Greef

There are a couple things to try:

1. Make sure you are searching for keywords in your shapes (in the Master
Properties dialog). Search does not find shapes by name. To find this drop
the shape on the page, then do File > Shapes > Show Document Stencil. In
the Shapes window > Document Stencil, right-click the shape > Edit Master >
Master Properties. In the Search Keywords box, see if the keyword appears.

2. For optimal search results, we recommend using the Indexing Service in
Windows XP. Go to Tools > Options > Shape Search, click Visio Local Shapes
and click the Properties button. This will tell whether Indexing Service is
on. If you are logged in with administrative rights, you can enable IS in
the dialog. If not, the radio buttons are greyed out but will tell its
current state.

Hello Bill,

Thanks for your answer.

I have tried all of your suggestions, but until now without any result.
I do know about the search keywords box and I have added search words there.
The indexingservice is on, but still there is no result, however.. I
stumbeled into the word 'test' that brought me to three shapes with test as
a search word. So I tried to ad the word test to my own shapes, but again
without any results. I also tried dragging these shapes into the 'my shapes'
folder (that I am not using normally) to see if only shapes from the 'my
shapes' folder are indexed, but again without results.

Do you have one another suggestion for me ?

Thanks,
Arnold
