Sharing a resource

How can I share a resource between 2 or more projects.
Eg. I have 1 resouce who is working fulltime, but in two different
projects, that is, he is works 50% on each project.
Can resourceleveling handle that???

Hi lsg,

Yes, you can share resources between projects by using a resource pool.
Take a look in Help for "resource pools."

You may also want to take a look at fellow MVP, Mike Glen's excellent
series of articles on MS Project, particularly Article 17 & 18. The
link to Mike's tutorials is:

I hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.

Hi,
Just a word on resource lmeveling.
Leveling, be it within a single project or on a pool with shared resources,
will ONLY resolve overallocations by shifting (delaying) tasks or
asignments.
It will never, never change the assignùment units.
In other words, when you say the resource is workiung 50% on a task, fine,
if it causes an overallocation it will be delayed but it will still remain
50%.
Same if you allocate 100%, it will remain 100%.

The very best solution is to always allocate all resources 100% to rtasks
and let priority rules decide which one is to be done first. After all, what
good would it be to make him do a low priority task for the simple reason
that the low priority project is entitled to 50% of his time?
