Sharing workbook over the web

How can I share a workbook over the web? I'd like multiple users to be able
to open and update the document simultaneously (in the same way it works when
we're all sharing the workbook on a shared network).

Is Sharepoint the only way to do this? If so, how does that work? What do
I need to implement that?
