Should Office 2000 be installed before XP SP1?

After a clean install of Windows XP Professional, is it better to install
Office 2000 before updating XP to XP SP1 or after? I have heard from some
people who tried to install Office after the update that they had error
messages and could not get Office 2000 to install properly?

The people who had problems were, in the vast majority, those who had a
pirated key that was widely available on the Internet and had the software
disabled after starting Office 2000 with SP-1.

If you have a legitimately acquired installation key, then you should be
okay to install either before or after. If you had installed SP-1 once
before and the software worked, it should work again on your new
installation.
