simple form help

S

Satish

Hi,

I'm trying to get this form right.
the url is :
www.innercosmos.com/nl.htm
somebody fills something or not and hits the submit button, the form is
send. How can I do better? I have the thankyou link for this form and that
does not work - www.innercosmos.com/thankyou.htm
So I'd like to accomplish :
1) verification of all fields before the person hits the submit button
2)after the submit button is hit, the link to the thank you must pop up
3)The person must get the thank you email.

I'm designing the site on FP2000.
Thanks
Satish

1) right click your form fields for field properties - validation
2) make your confirm page a relative link w/i your web
- you now have www.innercosmos.com/thankyou.htm - make it: thankyou.htm
3) not possible unless your host has an auto responder

GONG! WRONG ANSWER

We do not need autoresponders to send confirmation e-mail.
Good as a suggestion. Wrong as a conclusion.

What is needed is less reliance on push-button solutions that
can only do what they are hard coded to do.

Assuming the hosting provider has applied all service packs
every Windows server has mail components that are accessible
via script. No autoresponders are required. No involvement
from the hosting provider is required. What is required?

Learning to code, learning to adapt code developed by others
(which still requires coding experience) or hiring the task out if it
is important enough to one's business endeavors to run a business
online professionally so as to set one's self distinctly apart from
those involved as a hobby.

That does not resolve the immediate issue but it does put the
matter into perspective which as it ironically turns out is not
so simple after all now is it? :)

You can certainly do it in ASP but not w/ the default FP forms handler
- and you are presuming the user is on a server that supports ASP (or some other forms handler server side script), knows how to
code, and has been granted access to the scripts by the host
- provide your script and process as a "sample" for the user to follow and perhaps they can use it

Well, you're absolutely right, I incorrectly assumed the use of IIS
and innercosmos.com does indeed run on a Linux platform.

So I would conclude that this is yet another reason to be hosted on
a Windows platform, especially a Windows 2003 platform where
sophisticated and powerful mail functions are provided as native
resources.

Huh? There are valid reasons for being hosted on a Unix server and there are
languages just as powerful as ASP to handle scripting (PHP / mySQL). Email
can also be handled.
