Size of photos

I am scanning photos for a Power Point slide show for my son's wedding. Does
it matter what I save it as (i.e. JPEG) and what size I save it as (i.e.
75dpi or 300dpi).

yes, it does matter. Because the larger your photos are, the larger the
PowerPoint file will be and the slower it will run. If your photos are for
on-screen viewing, 1024x768 pixels (at 96 dpi) will be fine for photos which
will fill the whole slide. For smaller photos you can reduce the size, e.g.
for four photos per slide 512x384 pixels is sufficient.

JPEG will work well for photos, but if you can influence the compression,
choose a quality of 85 % or better.
