Skewed Desktop Wallpaper on Widescreen Laptop

I just got a new widescreen laptop (15.4" screen) and I want to put up a
personal picture as my desktop background. However, everytime I do, it's
distorted. The original size is 2304x1728 (it's a landscape size). How do I
get it to fit my desktop without having to a.) set it to "center" (which
doesn't work cause the pic is so big it zooms in on only a portion) or b.)
constantly have to trial and error the crop size to get it to fit (which I
haven't even hit yet). I have Microsoft Office Picture Manager but it doesn't
seem to have a way to set the picture to "widescreen" aspect ratio. Any
ideas? Thanks so much!!

You will need to edit the picture with an image editing program. If you
can't do what you want with MS Paint, get Irfanview and use that.
