Slide show stops after adding musi clips

I have completed a slide show which works fine. I decided to add music from
the Microsoft clip media in the form of looped clps of different ethnic music
to accompany groups of slides from different countries. the format of every
music clip is identical but the slide show now sometimes stops when a change
of music should occur. Not at all changes and not always at the same change.
By rt-clicking and then clicking 'next' the show carries on until the next
untimed stop.
Can this be corrected? Simple answers please as I am a novice.

Which version of PowerPoint? Are the sound clips WAV files or MID files?
Have you checked the custom animation settings (timings) to see if there's
any difference in the way the sounds are set up to play?

I don't know which version of Powerpoint I am using-- its just called
Powerpoint and was installed as Microsoft Office XP Professional with Front
Page in 2002.
All the music clips are mid and have been set the same under custom
animation ( 0 After Previous).

Double-click on one of the sounds in the custom animation taskpane. What do
your settings on the Effects tab say?

Try putting 999 in the "stop playing after xxx slides" box.
