Is there any way I can make the slide transition faster than the 1 sec that
seems to be the most that PPT allows? 1/10th of a sec would be nice. All
help always appreciated

Yes, there is. In the Slide Transition task pane, just enter 00:00.1 in the
appropriate box. But whether slides can indeed change after 0.1 sec depends
on slide content and your graphic card.
