Slide will not advance after playing .AVI

I have a slide with an .avi file inserted into it. When projecting a
presentation from a laptop, I generally like to use the left mouse button to
advance the slides. But this particular slide will not advance after the
..avi file is played unless the laptop's space bar is pressed. The mouse
button simply causes the .avi file to loop again. I have also discovered
that this slide will not advance automatically, even when set to do so.

Has anyone else experienced this?
