slow opening MS Word documents

When I open any Word document, it takes from 29-35 seconds to open. This
doesn't occur with Excel or Access files. I have run scandisk and defragged.
I also ran the Norton utilities to clean up my HD. I have renamed the
Normal templates on the HD.

Can anyone suggest a solution?

Disable the Office Plugin that comes with Symantec/Norton AntiVirus. See
