slowing down animation

I want to have scrolling messages at the lower edge of the slide. Is there
some way to make them moveslowly enough to be readable?

Which version of PPT are you using?

Doctor Ken,
There is a good sample of text crawling at the bottom of the slide here:

If you have PPT 2002/2003 you can set any speed you want, just double click
the item in the task pane, choose Timings tab, next to speed type your own
speed no need to limit yourself to the custom choices PPT offers.
