Small Caps on FrontPage 2003

Ben

I am trying to convert my font into 'Small Caps' using Frontpage 2003.
Although the option exists for selected text, when I apply it, the results
is, in fact, 'All Caps' but in the smaller case.

Can you advise me of a way to remedy this problem?

Best regards,

Ben Livneh

No, this is not supposed to happen. The capitalized letters in the original
text are supposed to appear larger than the non-capitalized ones. In effect,
all the letters become capitalized with 'Small Caps', but from the original
text, the lower-case letters become smaller caps than the capitalized letters.

Compared to MS Word and other MS Office program, this appears to be a glitch
with MS Frontpage. Is there anyway to get 'Small Caps' in the suitable
fashion as mentioned above in Frontpage?

Yes, this is by design. And, this is HTML, not MS Word or other MS Office
programs.

That is how it works in FP2000.

Keep in mind that FP is a HTML Editor, whereas Word is Word Processing application.

Try the following in Word:

1. On a new page add some text,
2. select the text,
3. then Select Format | Font | Small Caps,
4. now saving the page as HTML (or web page)

I get the following warning message from Word:

Small caps will become All caps

FYI: I use Word 2000.

That is also how it works in FP 2002 and 2003.

That is how it is *supposed* to work.

Tom,

I wasn't sure if MS made any changes in the newer versions.

You can tweak the HTML code by creating a span and giving the text a small
caps style... I have done that with great success. It doesn't look right in
FP but viewing in a browser it works just fine.

Go to a site like webmonkey to find all the HTML codes and keep them nearby.
