Smart buttons

New to Office 2004, so far so good but the smart button pop-up is
driving me crazy. I found how to disable to past pop-up but not the
formatting one...whenever I tab in, up pops this lightning bolt box. I
for one don't need it, I've already customized my tab settings, I'm a
novel writer and this thing is going to appear a trillion times if I
can't disable it.

Went to Tools>AutoCorrect>AutoText and unchecked Show AutoComplete tip
but the box still appears. Is there no way for this thing to not ever
ever ever ever ever ever show up, like it never existed as in Office X?

Please someone tell me there is...

I've clicked on the triangle to try to turn off auto correct but the
button still appears. There are several auto correct instances I do
use (mainly for my commonly-typoed words) but none of them need the
box, nor for tabs or anything else. It's an all-or-nothing feature?
Is this in the pipeline as a feature request to be able to turn the
"smart" buttons on or off?

Have you tried fixing it through Preferences?
Go Preferences --> Error Checking. From there I would just use trial
and error to figure out which rule is causing the annoying Smart Tag.
Hope this helps.

I believe you're thinking of Excel's Preferences - there is no comparable
Preferences feature in Word :)

Sorry, but that thread pretty much sums it up - MS left out the throttle for
the SmartTags in MacWord. Stand 'em up on it through the Send Feedback
option in Word's Help menu... They *do* pay some attention :)
