Some Folders View disapear.

In the public folder area we have a company contacts
folder with several sub-folders under it (custom
solution). I changed the view of the company folder (as I
have always done in the past) and the grey screen appeared
that says "Unable to display this Folder". And now under
the "View" pull down menu I no longer have the view
selections (custom or canned) for that folder. I can
still open existing sub-folders under the company folder,
but can't create new ones (I can create new folders in the
publc folders everywhere else and I don't receive this
message). I receive the same message above when clicking
on the folder once I've created one under it. Any ideas?
We have about 500 companies in the companies folder and
now we can't seem to access them. Don't know if it's view
control (the company form is a custom form), corruption or
something else.

ps I have set the permissions for these folder wide open
to see if that some how might be the problem...it doesn't
appear to be.
