SP2 seems to break desktop alerts in outlook 2007

Was this issue ever resolved? Unfortunately I am experiencing this issue now
with SP2. It is extremely annoying!

Thanks for any help.

I take it back - it only worked for a little while that day that after I
rebooted. I agree with the poster below that now it only works sometimes -
and hardly at that. Something is definitely wrong as again this happened
after SP2 install...

Did you reboot? It works here, so its not a direct bug - but its possible
an add-in or something is interacting with it.

I just downloaded SP2 for office - i was happy to read about the
improvements
in stability to outlook. I think I found a bug though as SP2 seems to
kill
the desktop alert feature altogether. It stopped working for me and then
I
created a new rule for it which doesn't work either. I even went into
tools
/ options and the preview desktop alert button did nothing - it's dead.

I'm still having the problem too. I upgraded to Windows 7, RC and the
problem persists. I've tried every suggestion in this forum and at
best, I've gotten a couple hours of functionality.

It was never resolved. And guess what? It happens in OL2010 as well.

Not sure if it was mentioned up the thread, but one thing that helps is
ensuring you don't have any extraneous Outlook add-ins installed. Apparently
one from Apple can contribute to the problem. In my case, it still didn't
fix the problem, but some days I don't have to restart Outlook at all
(that's called getting lucky), while other days I only have to restart it
once. Before I'd have to restart it multiple times on most days.

Same for me. Upgraded from Office 2007 SP2 to 2010 and exactly the same
issues with exactly the same symptoms and temporary solutions. Don't know if
this would occur with a clean install.

I would expect issues with Outlook 2010, since it's not the final product yet.
