Is a placeholder somehow treated differently by spell check than a manually
added text box? Here’s why I ask.
Spell check was not working in a .ppt file that I am running from PP2007,
but I did not author. I installed and ran the macro that was suggested in
another posting on this forum to automate making all text boxes U.S. English
(Article ID 245468, Revision 3.3). This did not fix the problem.
I then used another forum suggestion about going into outline view,
selecting all, and then setting the language. I discovered that “Do not check
spelling†was ticked. I unchecked and the words I knew to be incorrect were
now flagged. Problem solved.
Since all text in a slide show is in a text box, why does the first
procedure of setting the language not take care of the issue, requiring a
second process? I recognize that it will not care for spell checking an
inserted object’s or graphic's typos. I am wondering if a placeholder is
somehow treated differently by spell check than a manually added text box?
I would appreciate any ideas on this.
