Spell checking within cells in table

J

John Cutler

I'm working with Word 2003 standard edition; XP Pro operating system.

I'm creating a Directory mail merge based a table that gets repeated, with
sets of merge data inserted in each table.

One of the cells in each table if for a description that gets typed by hand.

When I press "F7" to check spelling, it says the spelling check is complete
-- but I can see that words which were (deliberately) misspelled are being
overlooked.

I also get a message that says **Text marked with "Do not check spelling or
grammar" was skipped**. What does this mean?

QUESTION: How can I get the spell checker to look at ALL words in ALL table
cells?

Thanks, John

It is a component found in STYLES. You need to make sure your document
templates (base documents) all have Normal style and any other styles "Do
not Check ..." UNCHECKED. And make sure Normal.dot has all its styles
unchecked as this is the template New Blank Document is based on:
On Menu go to:
Format
Styles and Formatting
Click on style (each one separately)
Modify
Format
Language
UNCHECK do not check spelling or grammar.

Hope this helps.
