Spotlight Search of Entourage Emails

Version: 2008 Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard) Processor: Intel Email Client: Exchange I have a client who when performs a Spotlight search from the Finder and in the results listing double-clicks on a Entourage email, it is displaying a message saying that you need to switch identity to view the email.

The error is self-explanatory in that the email is question is linked to another Entourage identity other than the one that the user is currently using. However does anyone know how to simply open this email in the current users identity? I have already tried deleting the Spotlight index with no success. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

If a message is stored in another Identity, you MUST open that Identity
to view.

You can store emails in third party applications like EagleFiler and
DevonThink Pro. Spotlight can find these and you can view in the
application.

Otherwise, you need to open the old Identity, export the old messages as
either MBOX or .rge files and import into the current Identity.

Thanks that really helped. I ended up archiving off the profile, deleting it, and resetting Spotlights index to force a re-index of only the current MS User Data. I assume that Entourage's Spotlight plugin uses that same Spotlight index resource.

In the future you can just re-index Entourage under Entourage
preferences > Spotlight > click on rebuild.

This is the location of your Entourage Spotlight cache files:

"YOUR USER FOLDER/Library/Caches/Metadata/Microsoft/Entourage"

Items are not stored in folders you created but by size. Not all data in
a message is stored but for most messages, all the data is collected.

Take a look in Attachments and you'll find out why we don't encourage
using a graphic in a signature.
