SQL Server Login Error while connecting from MPP to Project Server.Please help

While connecting to the project server from Microsoft
Project (ie;client) it is throwing the error.The error is
as follows.

Connection failed
SQL state:'01000'
SQL Server error:1231
[Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][Named Pipes]Connection
Open(Create File()).
Connection Failed.
SQL State:'08001'
SQL Server Error 1231
[Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver] Client unable to
establish Connection.

The above message is coming with an "OK" Button. While
clicking on the "OK" Button a second screen is coming for
SQL Login which contains the following.

Server:server name
Login ID :MSProjectUser
Password:***********

All the users who is facing this problem has permissions
to access the MPP's.But again they are getting the above
problem.

Can anybody help to solve this problem???

I don't know if this is related but sometimes my users
experience a network logon screen before they get to the
web server. This is because they have not added the server
to their trusted or loacal intranet sites in IE. Once they
do that the network logon screen goes away for good. Is it
possible that might have some bearing, otherwise this is
over my head.
