stalled install office 2003 pro

After reinstalling Windows XP Pro in different dir I am reinstalling
Office 2003 Pro . It is very slow . after several hours it boggs down during
writting registry...
gesiter exec uses 99% pcu, any sugestions.
Iam installing on D drive
